    • Fabric made from 100% supplex nylon Tilley Nylamtium®. Mesh made from 100% polyester.
    • The fabrics of all Tilley Hats have been certified to block 98 percent of harmful UVA/UVB radiation and deliver an ultraviolet factor (UPF) of 50+, the maximum rating given.
    • You still need SPF 30 sunscreen and sunglasses with UV filters! Children especially need the UV filters in their sunglasses as non-filtering glasses will increase the size of their pupils, allowing even more of the damaging UV rays to enter. This often causes cataracts and retinal problems later in life and has happened in my (Alex Tilley's) own family.
    • Yes, Dorothy, there can be truth in advertising. For instance, although our Hats block 98% of UV rays, some rays COULD enter through ¾" mesh.
    • We hand-sew each Hat using very strong thread; all seams are lock-stitched so they won't unravel. The brass is from Britain and is the best there is. All Hats are made with such care and dedication that one is as good as another. Your Tilley will be equal to that presented to a president or princess. ("Hi, Duke! How long have you had your Tilley?" could be an effective opener.)

    • Wash it frequently or non-removable sweat stains will mar it and possibly rot it. Machine wash on delicate cycle separately or hand wash in cool water. Do not use bleach as it remains inside the Hat, slowly rotting it. Smooth and reshape the Hat by hand and set it out to air dry. When the Hat is dry, simply re-stretch it, as an American sailor showed us, by putting your knee in the crown, and pulling firmly on the opposite side.

I bought this had as it was available in my size 8+! and looked good. The first time I used it was on a trip to Rome in August 2011. The time I was there it was 40c during the day. I just kept soaking the hat in the fountains and I kept cool and well all day. Many Thanks & Blessings, Fr. Gareth Bowen

GREATEST hat I have ever owned

Born and raised in South FL, I have never been able to wear any hat that I did not get overheated and have to remove it. I have owned my Tilley LTM6 since 8/11/2009 and have not worn or even tried to wear any other hat since getting my Tilley. It is awesome, I use it backpacking, camping, hiking, kayaking, bike riding and just hanging outside. I have never had the need to have to remove the hat for overheating or discomfort. I have had so many compliments too. This hat gets washed at least one a week and sometimes more depending on the weeks activiites and it come out of the wash just perfect every time. I just can't praise my Tilley enough. I LOVE IT!

    Pretty Good

I really like this hat. I do have a few issues. The AirFlo doesn't really live up to the hype, It gets pretty hot under the hat when temps are over 70 degrees. Also, I was caught out in the rain today and it did a fair job repelling water to a point. The seams started leaking after a bit getting my head and forehead pretty soaked. I am not sure if it is due to a defect or design error. When it says that it repels rain, I expect to be a little more dry. Other than that, I have been satisfied with the hat.

    My relationship with a hat

Got my Tilley LTM6 Natural with Green since my last sunstroke after a game of golf. My husband was fed up me being sick and decided to buy a new hat. And now after two weeks you can draw a picture of me but don't forget the hat. I wear my Tilley hat from morning untill evening indoor and outdoor. I am in love with this hat, and I am sure it will not be the last Tilley. With the same purchase my husband also got a Tilley hat, and he will never forget to bring this hat along. Superb. Thanks. Can I get some more cards to give away? With all the compliments we get, we are happy to send our friends to Tilley Endurables. Kind regards, Roelie Lambrichs-Rozendal, Silves Portugal

    Color changed

An overall good hat, but not as good as the other Tilleys I've owned and still own (7 in my life so far). On my LTM6, the color changed towards a somewhat greenish cast. To be sure, it was one of the early production samples, and maybe Tilley has corrected this by now. But my main disappointment was that it wasn't as cool as the mesh-top promised; I don't think there's enough mesh area. I also agree with others that the headband doesn't hold as much sweat as other Tilley hats.

    Best hat I've ever owned

I wear mine in the Florida heat and humidity every day. Keeps my eyes free of sweat and the sun off my face and neck. Only two downsides for me are that I perspire profusely and my hat has developed a yellow tinge where the crown meets the brim and the brim flaps terribly when riding a golf cart. Every one admires my Tilley and a few, mainly the Girls have purchased their own. I have gotten oil and the greasy muck off car tags on mine and it's washed right out.... awesome. Just have to wash it each night from now on due to my sweating.

    Great hat

Got one of the LTM6 hats in the correct size to replace an ill fitting one I had for years. It fits correctly , and is so light and airy. Shame I didnt buy one much sooner. Several of my friends have Tilley hats now. I have seen these hats on plenty of 'outdoor ' people on the television.

    Nearly perfect for me

The other reviewers have all captured my thoughts at some point. The only negative -- and I agree with the one reviewer -- is that when the headband part becomes saturated with sweat that it drips down and out the front. That is annoying. However, the minimal weight, portability, wash ability, and nearly perfect fit have, for me, outweighed that annoying bit. My only suggestion for Tilley would be a more absorbent and/or wicking material for the headband area.

Best hat I have ever worn.

I have been wearing hats outdoors for 25 years. Without doubt, the LTM6 I bought seven years ago is the best hat I have ever owned. My previous hat had become one giant sweat stain as I wore it in the heat of Fort Worth Texas. My LTM6 was an absolute miracle by comparison. I have worn it nearly every day since I bought it. It has always been comfortable, it has been water resistant, and it has protected my head in all but the coldest weather. I have had many compliments on my hat, and my only regret is that it took me two years to decide to buy a Tilley hat.

    Poor Breathability, Head Stays Hot

Looks nice and the wide brim offers good sun protection, but this hat has terrible moisture control. The mesh area is too small and the Nylamtium material is waterproof, allowing water and heat to build up quickly. After walking on a hot day, many drops of water spill out of the mesh when you lean forward. I'm disappointed with the Tilley LTM6 after spending over $80US on a hat that supposed to be the best. A cheap baseball cap does a better job of keeping my head cool and dry. Don't fall for the glowing advertising on this hat like I did.

I need another one (or two)!!!

My wife and I each bought a T2 and I also bought a LTM6 before we moved to Liberia. The three survived the rigors of Liberian life for over four years. One T2 was left there with a friend. The other two are here with us in Florida, still serving well. The LTM6 is showing signs of wear from being washed at least weekly, so it is time to get a new one. Now that colors are available I'll be "styling". Friends comment about how "expensive Tilley hats are, but mine have outlasted anything they have purchased many times over. Tilley hats sound like a bargain to me!!

Love all 6 of my Tilleys

I bought my first Tilley in Montreal several years ago. It was the T2. My wife also bought one. I now have six Tilleys!! I have a Hemp hat and two of the LTM6 hats. I constantly get compliments on all those hats. They want to know where I purchased it. I also own aT4 and a LTM8! I would recommend any of those hats toanyone who wants to wear the best of the best hats!I take these hats with me all over the USA and Canada!! They wash up great and maintain their shape.

    LOVE my Tilley except...

I made the mistake of untying the windknots when i first got my hats. Can't get them re-tied in the original fashion even after watching the You Tube video. The hat, other than that, I'm exceptionally satisfied with. Operator headspace on my part.

8 years & finding more uses

My Tilley has always been great in the sun, and the cords are invaluable in mountain and seacoast wind, even squalls. Trying to avoid the harsh sun on hot Greece afternoons, on a whim I decided to wear it while swimming in the salt water and it's great ! The brim felt a little strange on my neck doing the backstroke but it worked better than I dared hope. The top compartment is also a great place for stowing emergency money - most pickpockets don't steal hats ! And it still looks great after all these years LewWhite

While I am on the pool deck in the blazing sun I enjoy the comfort of my Tilley. Life in the outdoors just got easier. The wide brim is just right to shade my eyes, and face. Tilley helps to keep me cool. My Tilley has accompanied me on vacation and trips to town. I keep my Tilley in the SUV to shade my eyes while driving. I have to admit that I have at times added embellishments to my Tilley. Scarves have adorned the crown and at times I have attached a brooch to the scarf. These added ornamentations give my Tilley a feminine touch that I can match to my... " Couture whims of the moment. " The possibilities end with your imagination. The quality, performance, and dependability begin with Tilley. I am going to add the Blue Tilley to my wardrobe. Thanks for a truly practical and versatile product!

    Willed to My Son

Bought this hat at REI last year and made the mistake of buying too small. Still looks brand new after several washings. Light and comfortable, much more so than our T4 which I use when it is cooler. Sits lower on the head, but with the higher crown and lighter fabric, is cooler and more stylish than most any other hat. We now own two since my oldest son wanted a Navy blue model.

This hat has been perfect for me while sitting in the stands at the College World Series in Omaha. On those unbearably hot days when the sun is bearing down on everyone, the mesh netting is a lifesaver when a breeze stirs up. Thanks for a great product!

LTM6 Wonderful lightweight hat. I hid my wife's 25th anniversary diamond ring up in the hat's pocket all the way to Ireland and presented it to her in Waterford. The wide brim is very nice in foul weather. I sprayed 3 coats of Scotch Guard fabric protectant on the hat to ease cleaning. It's a great choice.

The hat has been great but the old gal is due for replacement. I have had it for a little over six years and used it almost daily. I have had it at the beach, fishing, flying, horseback riding, hiking, swimming and at work. Yes I will miss her but hope to get as much great wearing out of the next tilley hat. Did I say how much I love this hat?

I've only had my Tilley LTM6 for a month, but I don't know how I traveled for so many years without it. It has already been to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, on a catamaran in the Caribbean, and is currently drying after a good scrub getting ready for a trek to Cambodia. I can't believe how much I love this hat. It stays on my head, protects face, neck, and ears from sun, holds its shape in a back pack, and looks snappy at the same time. Oh, and the crown money compartment provided me with cash to buy jewelry from a hawker on the beach. The number of people who comment on the hat is amazing, not to mention the other Tilley hat owners I meet are just great people. I'm looking forward the rest of my life with this hat.

World's Best?

To protect you from the sun and rain, Tilleys fit lower than other hats. This also tends to give one a rather dashing appearance! For your comfort, they're held on by gravity, not painful pressure on your forehead. On a hot muggy day, you'll especially appreciate this!

Your Hat is guaranteed for life (yours, mine or its) not to wear out or fall apart. We're delighted to think that yours may be passed on to the next generation!

With your Hat, you'll be provided with "The Straight-Shooter's Statement of Loss of a Tilley Hat" insurance policy. The insurance is for two years, all perils, 50% deductible, and is not issued by Lloyds. We understand the anguish of losing this reliable companion, or of having your dog terminally gnaw it. Should that happen, we'll replace your late, lamented Tilley at half the current catalogue price.

The fabric of all Tilley Hats have been certified to block 98 percent of harmful UVA/UVB radiation and deliver an ultraviolet factor (UPF) of 50+, the maximum rating given. Yes, Dorothy, there can be truth in advertising. For instance, although our Hats block 98% of UV rays, some rays COULD enter through ¾" mesh.

Many Hats have a dark underbrim to reduce glare from water, sand and pavement.

Not perfectly but usually quite adequately. The brim channels water away for improved foul-weather protection.

A layer of closed-cell foam in the crown, and sometimes in the brim, provides the Tilley's positive buoyancy. This is a boon to boaters and fishermen/women/people. Good grief! People have told us that this foam layer has helped save their lives. Double your money back if it doesn't save yours. Apply personally....

    TIES ON:
The Tilley comes with a tuckaway, adjustable, fore 'n' aft Wind Cord. When it's calm, the Wind Cord stays hidden in the crown. When there's a breeze, place the part with the sliding knots behind your head. When it's windy or you're sailing, use the chin part too. See the Owner's Manual, which accompanies each Hat, for amplification or visit our Facebook page to watch the Tilley Hat Wind Cord tutorial.

After washing, smooth and reshape the Hat by hand and set it out to air dry. When the Hat is dry, simply re-stretch it, as an American sailor showed us, by putting your knee in the crown, and pulling firmly on the opposite side.

You'll find it a good read. It's also available in Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Spanish. Please specify if it should be other than in English.

Soft and comfortable, it picks up sweat from your forehead and wicks it away to your temple area where it evaporates.

Inside the crown is a good-sized pocket sealed with Velcro®. In it, carry your I.D., hotel key, $10 bill (in your case, a $20), plus 50¢ for an emergency phone call.

There are 8 of these in the Secret Pocket. You'll have fun with them; they can even get you into trouble, if you wish.

Most hat makers make 4 or 5 sizes; we make 13, and even individual Hats beyond that size range when necessary. As a matter of principle, no one shall be deprived of the pleasure and privileges of Tilley Hat ownership simply because of an uncommon head size.

Those who wear Tilleys usually have innate good taste, creative minds and uncommon intelligence. Everybody knows that! And the Hats serve to identify such people to each other - immediately. Because of these exceptional yet shared traits, virtually always, especially in foreign countries, Tilley wearers greet each other. Friendships have been formed because of the Hat, and that can be the nicest thing of all.
